My friend, Mary, loved the gray corduroy version of this bucket backpack and asked me to create one for her niece, but in dusty pink corduroy. I found the perfect fabric at Stonemountain & Daughter Fabrics. They are located in Berkeley, CA and I can’t wait to visit in person next time I’m in the area, but for now I ordered online and was pleased with the response time and the fabric itself.
Based on the enhancements I made to Karla’s version of this bag, I opted to add the carry handle and change the front closure. I also bought a drawstring instead of making one, and added a cinch lock. I used some pink cork scraps for the bag bottom and front base for added stability. I also used foam interfacing on the bag back instead of the harder interfacing I used on the gray version. I used my new rivet press to install the grommets at the top. I love that thing.
I think Mary and her niece will be pleased.
