I’ve been thinking lately about the next steps in my sewing journey. I feel like it’s time to step up my game a bit. If you saw my last post, you know I’ve been making prototypes of a lot of different bags and not bags, with the sole purpose of learning and discovering. As I get more advanced in my skills and knock off the rust accumulated during my non-sewing years, I’m finding that I want to go back to a couple of patterns and try again. I know I can do better! I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback from my mini backpack, and even a couple of people said they would like their own, so I think I will try that one again. I also want to use more challenging fabrics, like waxed canvas and cork, which should give a bag a more luxe finish. I’m still not interested in large (or small) scale production, but commission work seems like fun. A friend has expressed interest in learning to sew and asked if I would teach her, so that will be another new thing for me to work on. Of course I may change my mind about where I’m going with this hobby, but that is just the nature of a journey. I have to allow for detours and stops along the way.
