D&D Messenger Bag

Carter asked me to design and make a messenger bag that he could use to transport his laptop along with D&D gear including books and a box of dice. He gave me a bag that has features he likes but it wasn’t big enough for his laptop and I was able to design something similar using the appropriate measurements for his needs. He only wanted one pocket in addition to the interior of the bag, and this pocket had to be deep enough for the box of dice. In the interior of the main bag, he wanted a padded divider to keep the laptop safe, and he requested extra padding the bag’s back for more protection.

Given these requirements, I designed this bag. It has a flap that closes with 2 magnetic snaps. When you open the flap, the bag top is closed with a recessed zipper, and there’s a gusseted pocket that also has a zipper top.

I wanted to celebrate Carter’s interest in D&D so I used a dragon print fabric for the contrast to the plain blue canvas on the exterior. The inner lining is a dice print.

I think it’s safe to say I am not nor will I become a pattern designer. This was a difficult bag to make and there will not be a second one. I sure hope his laptop fits!
