Ukulele Case for Becky

Taking the lessons I learned with my first ukulele case into account, I made a 2nd bag for Becky’s ukulele. I added ½” to the zipper gusset, changed the interior zipper pocket to a Velcro closed patch pocket, squared the bottom of the bag instead of using rounded corners, added Velcro to the exterior pocket, and modified the lining attachment method. I’m not sure the lining method was any easier, all in all, as it required a second round of gusset application, and hand stitching the lining to the zipper. I think the lining in the first case ended up laying better, so if I ever make another one I will probably go back to the original method from the pattern. Attaching the gusset to the squared corners was easier, and I would do that again.

I wasn’t thrilled with the fabric I used for the exterior: it was called denim but had a weird feel to it. I think it may have had a coating, and I should probably have washed it before using it, but I was afraid it would wrinkle. The printed flowers were difficult to iron, requiring a lower iron setting which didn’t press creases very well. But it was cute, and that’s what matters most.
