As I was visiting Boersma’s Sewing Center in downtown McMinnville, OR recently, several of the staff noticed and appreciated the backpack I was carrying (my faux leather square purse size model), and called their manager over to speak with me. She wants to improve their bag making supplies department and asked me if I would be interested in producing some sample bags for the store. I was flattered and excited. This is exactly the kind of project I need: I can do the fun work of making the bags, but I don’t have to buy materials or figure out what to do with the finished bag. After some back and forth, I got three projects from Sarah and whipped up two totes and a ditty bag for the store to display. I will deliver them soon, and hope they meet Sarah’s standards. I would love to make more projects for them. Their products, fabrics and staff are always top quality and I can safely say they are my favorite fabric store. Plus I would love to have more in-store options for bag supplies like hardware, webbing, zippers and patterns as I currently source most of mine online, which of course means shipping fees and lag time. Check out my pages for the Pepin tote, Buckthorn tote, and the Clam Up ditty bag to see what I created exclusively for Boersma’s.
Now I just need to find a few more customers like this…
