The third bag I made for Boersma’s is the Clam Up, a ByAnnie pattern. This is a clamshell ditty bag that you can make in any of five sizes. Sarah asked me to make the large size using cork fabric for the exterior and an aboriginal print for the lining. Of the three bags I made, this was the most challenging, believe it or not. The zipper is installed on a curved edge, and the side panels are a little bit fiddly to get positioned and sewn correctly. But overall, the bag came out well. I used a foam stabilizer as the pattern suggested, but with the cork, I’m not sure if that much stability is really needed. I might use a fusible or sew-in fleece next time instead.
