It’s time to do something about my first prototypes. I have several tote bags that I made very early in my Too Many Totes journey that I created simply for the educational value of making them. Some I love and use, but others just sit in the closet mocking me. When I recently had to buy more hardware for upcoming projects and felt the financial pinch, I decided to “recycle” these oldies and use the good bits for future projects. I mean why not? The bag isn’t doing me any good and the hardware can be used elsewhere. So I got out my shears and started slashing away. It felt very liberating, I must say, to chop up something I didn’t particularly like and would never use and give the pieces a new chance at life. And I still have the photos of all the old bags on TooManyTotes.com in case I get nostalgic. I do have to admit, however, that I have yet to completely throw anything away. Right now the slashed bits are back in the closet but the mocking has ceased. I’m hoping I may be able to repurpose some of the fabric, but that may be wishful thinking. Time will tell, as it usually does.
